Adrianne Pecotic, Executive Director, Australasia - AFACT - Australian Federation Against Copyright Theft
A 20-year veteran of Australia’s production and broadcast community, Adrianne Pecotic has dedicated her career to managing and protecting copyright to help build and sustain a globally viable creative industry in Australia. As Executive Director, Australasia of the Australian Federation Against Copyright Theft (AFACT which was established in 2004) Adrianne has taken a balanced approach facing the issue of digital piracy by driving positive, proactive education and enforcement campaigns, including “Copyright or Copywrong,” the first such initiative undertaken with Australian schools.
Her passion for preserving Australia’s films and television programmes’ “localness” and creative control while making them available to international audiences stems from a deep understanding of the inherent risks involved in production gleaned during a long-standing career at Grundy Television (FreemantleMedia Group). Adrianne served as General Manager of Grundy Television and spent six years as Television Division Councillor for the Screen Producers Association of Australia (SPAA), representing the industry at Senate, Productivity Commission and Australian Broadcasting Authority hearings. For her contributions, she was amongst the first recipients of the SPAA Maura Fay Award for Services to the Industry in 2004.
