PERTH

City Overview

Perth is a modern sophisticated city on the west coast of Australia, with some 1.4 million people. It boasts more hours of sunshine than any other state in Australia, with clear blue skies, clean air and picturesque surroundings. Western Australia is bound by 12,500km (7,813 miles) of the world's most pristine coastline.

Perth is a truly multicultural city and, while predominantly English speaking, more than 28.6 per cent of the population were born overseas (the highest in Australia). This cultural diversity is reflected in the way of life, incorporating a wide range of restaurants, events and the arts. It’s also a city whose musical pedigree is legendary!

The city is an ideal base from which to explore the diverse surrounding attractions. Only minutes away is an abundance of world-class wineries offering wine tasting tours and sumptuous lunches. There is good shopping available, plenty of riverside and beachside restaurants and cafes, a 24-hour world-class casino, international-quality golf courses, more than 80kms of white sandy beaches, a huge range of outdoor activities and experiences, and the picturesque Rottnest Island just a 30-minute ferry ride from Fremantle.

For those with time to explore, there is the chance to see some truly unique locations. Visitors can travel north to tropical Broome and experience the rugged beauty of the Kimberley and Pilbara regions, where they can hand-feed friendly dolphins and even swim with the majestic whale sharks. East are the goldfields of Kalgoorlie and south, the stunning beaches and world-renowned vineyards of the Margaret River region.

Transport

Getting to Perth

Perth's geographical location makes it an ideal venue for One Movement for Music. Close to Asia, Perth is the western gateway to Australia for both European and Asian visitors.

Perth's international and domestic airports are located 20 and 15 minutes from the CBD. The regular daily flights into and out of Perth International Airport include Qantas Airways, British Airlines, Singapore Airlines, Cathay Pacific Airways, Malaysia Airways, Thai Airways, South African Airlines and Emirates Airline.

Singapore Airlines has introduced two sectors servicing Los Angeles and New York direct, so with only a four and a half-hour flight from Singapore to Perth, access into Western Australia is now more favourable for visitors from the United States.

European travellers have the choice of stopping off in either Singapore or Dubai, while Oceania nations and the Americas can stop over in Sydney and fly direct to Perth. The flight for those travelling from Asia to Perth is short and being in the same time zone removes the possibility of jet lag.

Once you arrive in Perth getting around is easy. The event has been designed so that everything is within easy walking distance. All activities outside the host hotel are within a 500m radius.
