OKA

With a haunting sense of melody, a daunting collection of instruments and a live performance that will blow any watcher's eyes and listener's ears away, OKA have toured extensively, building a loyal fanbase and gaining an unforgettable reputation as crowd pullers, wherever they perform.

Touring Canada in their eighth year consecutive, OKA have performed at Montreal Jazz Festival, Quebec Summer Festival (where they were voted in the top five, for most memorable festival performances, alongside festival headliners Sting and KISS), Calgary Stampede and Winnipeg Folk Festival, to name a few. OKA have also successfully completed huge summers at home, with standout performances at festivals including the Australasian World Music Expo, Mullum Music Festival, Island Vibe, Peats Ridge, Woodford, Earthfreq and Rainbow Serpent.

With five album releases, OKA shines an optimistic light on the beauty of indigenous cultures in a progressive style. Phat organic earth rhythms in a smooth hi-fidelity sound that is full of uplifting melodies, tones and textures, all cooked over raw didgeridoo rhythms and dance driven grooves.

"OKA supports the political struggle for indigenous rights 100%. We believe that their most effective contribution is to spread the beauty and open heart that is at the root of the indigenous cultures, through music, playing, traveling, celebrating. Focusing on the supreme harmony, love and wisdom that has been nurtured by indigenous peoples from thousands of years connecting with nature on a daily basis."

OKA will be sure to get you on a natural high, rattling the earth and sky with their throbbing earthy organic electro beats of feel good dance, eclectic world sounds, roots, reggae-dub and jazz. An unforgettable part of any OKA performance is when Stu wows the crowd with his powerful traditional dancing. He shows just how light a bigfella can be on his feet.
