Cameras

Cameras formed in early 2008 after Eleanor Dunlop (vox/keys) and Fraser Harvey (vox/guitar/bass) discovered a mutual love for layering darker, dirtier sounds with warmer, lighter melodies. They started out simply writing several songs that were eventually recorded as demos under the guidance of experienced producer Scott Horscroft.

Debuted quietly online, the demos attracted more attention than initially expected. Their first track "June" was released as a digital single in late 2009 and quickly gained momentum after being selected as iTunes Single Of The Week and its accompanying original video achieved airplay on several major music networks. Additionally, "Defeatist" was picked up and added to the soundtrack of American MTV show The City. In the meantime, Cameras also wrote the score to NIDA’s haunting stage production, Motel and performed with the cast live both in Sydney and at the Adelaide Fringe Festival.

The start of 2010 saw Cameras playing Southbound, Peat’s Ridge and Playground Weekender festivals in addition to regular smaller gigs at selected venues, allowing them to further develop their sound and tighten up their live show. Following a small line up change with Ben Mason joining on drums, Cameras recently returned to the studio to record their first EP. Comprising six songs, the EP offers an intriguing insight into the various sounds that interest and reflect this inimitable three-piece.
