Many might be a little baffled by who or what Miami Horror actually are: a band? a DJ? or a production wizard? Well, the answer is actually all of the above. Miami Horror, originally the brainchild of 22-year-old Benjamin Plant and now a newly formed live band have earned their stance as one of the most talked-about Australian producers/artists and one to watch out for in 2010.
After putting himself on the map by DJ-ing various high profile international events in LA, NY, Mexico and Europe as well as remixing artists like The Presets and Pnau with Fred Falke, Benjamin joined forces with Josh Moriaty (vocals and guitar), Dan Whitechurch (bass, keys and sampler) and Aaron Shanahan (drums) to create both the live show and collaborate on his debut album.
With the aim of always wanting to make electronic music that surpassed the boundaries of the club Miami Horror started on their debut album and live show.
Miami Horror as a live entity have quickly made a name for themselves as one of the premier live dance acts in Australia, racking up performances at festivals such as Good Vibrations, Parklife, Groovin The Moo, Falls Festival, Field Day and the Big Day Out, as well as supporting international acts such as Friendly Fires and Lily Allen.
In November 2008, Miami Horror released their debut EP "Bravado" which featured the previous blog hit "Don’t Be On With Her". Soon after, the accompanying 80’s VHS Italo-disco inspired clip again set the international blog world on fire.
Their first single "Sometimes" debuted in October last year, fast becoming a summer anthem thanks to Triple J, Nova, MTV, Channel V and Video Hits.
